Our Approach to Sustainability

In the global economy, it is necessary for all countries and companies to take an active role in solving global issues such as climate change, natural disasters, and infectious diseases.

This means that in addition to further accelerating international cooperation efforts under the principle of international cooperation, it is necessary to address domestic issues in the economic, social, and environmental fields, as well as cross-cutting issues, not only as domestic issues but also as issues for the international community as a whole.

In light of this situation, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by the United Nations in September 2015, was created as an integrated effort to harmonize the economic, social, and environmental aspects of the world as an integral part of the 2030 Agenda, not only the development issues of developing countries, but also 17 goals and 169 targets.

Under these circumstances, Nakamura Corporation has a role to play in sustaining corporate activities and achieving economic development.

(1)Universality in which all departments and staff participate.

(2)Inclusiveness that leaves no one behind.

(3)Integrity in addressing community, economic, and environmental issues.

(4)Transparency that can be periodically assessed and reviewed.

Based on the above four points, we have decided to address issues related to our company's business activities as well as issues related to the implementation guidelines that the government is working on.

Vision and Priorities

"The NAKAMURA SDGs Action Plan for Achieving the 2030 Targets” will address the following issues based on ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) management, which includes not only business performance and scale, but also governance, including environmental considerations, social initiatives such as diversity, and risk management.

(1)Construction of an environment in which all employees, NAKAMURA PLATFORM's partner companies, and all related parties can play an active role.

(2)Promote safety and health management.

(3)Promotion of digital transformation (DX) toward the reality of Society 5.0 (Society 5.0: super-smart society).

(4)Building a resilient disaster prevention and mitigation system linked to the Nakamura BCP.

(5)Promotion of energy conservation and introduction of new energy systems toward carbon neutrality by 2050.

(6)Thoroughly implement air quality and chemical substance risk management, and contribute to the conservation of forest and marine environments.

(7)Contributing to the construction of a peaceful, safe and secure society and contributing to local communities and industries.

Action items and targets decided by each division will be carried out with the participation of all members of the group. The evaluation will be decided by exchanging opinions on the implementation status of all members, and the group leader will report and compile the results at the NAKAMA SDGs meeting. The progress of implementation will be assessed based on the results of interim and year-end evaluations. Achievement status of NAKAMA SDGs will be evaluated after summarizing achievement status of each department.
